February 2002 Mystery Photo!
Jim from Ghoststudy writes, We did a private investigation
here in Sacramento on February 1, 2002. When we first entered the private
residence the live tree in the living room began to shake vigorously! We had
several experiences in that house and we still have hours of video yet to watch.
Sara (the home owner) let me know before we came that there was a picture that
she had to remove from the house because it would change into a dark haired man
with a mustache. She however, agreed to bring the framed picture back for the
investigation and I include it below for your consideration. The four of us that
investigated the house all witnessed this effect. Our conclusions are that the
effect is most likely just an illusion. But other figures have been reported within
the picture as well. On this page you will see four separate views of this
framed picture. The last three should show the image of a man taking up the
entire picture. Let's us know what you see?

Another report of this picture is that a figure
of a man with red rimmed glasses is seen within the picture and his nose is that
of the private area of a man, strangely enough. Please share your thoughts about
this picture and report to us anything you might see within it.

I believe that this is just an illusion of the
way the light hits the picture and makes the background look like hair and a
forehead. The people in the picture are at the right heights to make the
illusion of a face with the contrast of clothes and skin color. The picture
focus also lends to the illusion, especially the black and white one. If you
look close enough you can pick out the figures in the picture. Jami

After a lengthy study of the three photos, a couple
of things come to mind. One: the picture has been moved to different
locations or moved about the location. Two: the lighting is not
consistent with each photo; a standard of lighting has to be set for
comparison, ie: cloudy, sunny, night, afternoon, flash, etc. Three:
distance from photo each time the photo is taken. If I were just going to
swallow the theory that a paranormal phenomena were taking place, I would say
the three photos show the progression of a man aging, from young man, to middle
age man with moustache, and then elderly man with gray beard. That is what
I see. If you take the first photo of the three friends, you can make out
the three people in the first two photos, if you focus on a common point in each
picture you can make out the three people in a vague way. ie: what
would be their faces if it were clear. I dont believe anything paranormal is
evident from the pictures, but then again, I wasn't there to experience the
other phenom, NANMARKAL@aol.com

I've never heard of such a freaky thing taking
place. The world of the paranormal is more complex than we will ever know.

This is amazing. I think this person had many
different faces in life and doesn't want to be forgotten. I would like to see
the picture without the face next to the face. What a way to see your spirit. I
would leave the picture in the house. Maybe if it is left there, some of the
other strange and unusual things will slow down. This maybe his
resting place. = ) lb@onlyinternet.com

I'm not sure on the exact circumstances on when this
picture was viewed to contain a man's face...but this is what it looks like to
me. You know those pictures where for example it says "Do you see a
princess or an old lady"....you can squint your eyes and see both affects.
That's what I see here. I see 3 people in it...but when I close my eyes
until they are almost closed and stare at the middle person I see a man.
Just my opinion and I'm interested in others. Meredith

Although it is interesting - I think it is an
optical illusion caused by glare. If you really concentrate on the picture, you
can still see the what is suppose to be there - the three people in the original
photo. I'll bet if you put this photo in one position where the three people are
plainly visible (as in your first image), make sure the lighting doesn't change,
and video tape it for awhile, the image wouldn't change. conniesplace@juno.com

If you look closely, the "man" is just a
sort of side view of the three people in the picture. The photo combined with a
reflection off the glass sort of lightens the photograph, making it look like a
"man." In the last one especially you can still see the faces of the
three individuals in the photo. As proof, take the first photo in the series,
open it with an image editing program, take the contrast up to 100% and the
saturation down to 0%. The "man" will pop out, especially if you
shrink the picture to 50% its normal size. In the last 3 photos, the picture in
the frame is small compared to the whole picture, and they are all taken with
high contrast and/or low saturation. No man, just an optical illusion. Hopefully
this comes as a relief to whoever sent them in. :) -Glenn gab8943@garnet.acns.fsu.edu
